Hello and welcome to our fourth (or second for artists) and final check in!  This check in is very important and we have a lot of information for you so buckle up because things are changing.

 

(and by “things” we mean posting)

 

What we need from you for this check in are 2 things (just two!).

 

1)      Check out THIS post about submission/posting changes. (Edit: Now with correct link again)
 

2)      Please let us know whether you believe (or already have) you will finish in time to submit.

 

If you think you think an extension of a couple of days will help you complete your podfic, please talk to us (Twitter DMs, Messaging here, emailing, etc.).

I think I might be done??? To be fair, there are some UK words that I found out I mispronounced and my pacing could be tightened up in a few chapters. But other than that, I've recorded, edited, had a beta listen, and fixed any mistakes.

Am I really finished? Is this real life???

ETA - Of course not. I still have 2 covers to do. XD

Hi mods!
As a podficcer, I'm done! The cover is now in Yue's hands and I'll do all the html/posting once I have it.
As an artist, I have one cover left. I haven't started on it and the next few days are going to be somewhat hectic, but it's been put near the top of my priorities and should be done in time.

So....I thought I had until the 31st to do the post which means the odds of me getting my podfic finished are very low as I will be out of the country on vacation from 2 October - 10 October and I haven't finished editing the podfic yet. If I have to make my post by 13 October (instead of 31 October as implied in the initial deadline) I don't think I'll have the time to finish.

I've prioritised doing cover art so that the podficcer I am working with can get their work posted on time. I sent one cover to the podficcer and am waiting for feedback (they are on vacation right now with limited internet, but should be back soon). I'm hoping to get the second cover to them by the end of the weekend.

I just want to say that I understand that you're granting extensions, but I'm the sort of person who (thanks to a lot of personal trauma I don't need to get into) feels like asking for an extension means I have failed to complete a challenge and that I'm being difficult or a hardship, so now I feel like since there is no way I'm getting this done by the new deadline I've essentially failed to complete the challenge no matter what.

Changing a deadline TWO WEEKS before the new deadline you set is, in my opinion, pretty unfair to those of us who have a lot on their plates with fandom things and real-life things. At the start of this (and I even double checked to make sure of the posting deadline) I was told I had two extra weeks to finish and now all of a sudden I don't, and I'm only finding this out with enough time that I'd have to scramble to get it done even IF I wasn't going to be out of the country. As someone who should easily be able to complete a 17k podfic in 4 months I know some of this is on me for putting things off until the last minute, but I still feel like this is a rule change you should have either made earlier or waited until next year to implement as it directly contradicts the rules you set at the beginning of the challenge.

That was long, but I feel pretty strongly about this. If the cover artist hadn't already done all her work and I hadn't asked the author's permission to record this I'd just say I'm dropping out now, but I feel like I'm accountable to other people so I guess I'm asking for an extension.

Thank you for this feedback. We understand that this year we made some pretty big changes and maybe those changes were too big. We have taken down the posting guidelines in order to make them more accessible to all. We value your participation and had no intention to upset you.

I still have to do final edits on my first podfic, which I hope to do either today or tomorrow. But I managed to select, record and finish a completely different podfic so yay?

In the final stages of my editing for my backups, one of which is already done. I'm still working on my official ones as well, but I'm certain they won't be done. I'm so glad I implemented backups just in case. My flu really threw me!

It's your lucky day! After much deliberation, we decided to revert back to the old posting period of Oct 14-31. We tried to make too many changes too late in the game.

I'm going to have to be a Did Not Finish again this round, sadly. The time I had set aside for recording the last chapters got totally disrupted by illness and a bunch of other real life nonsense and I definitely will not have time to get this done by the deadline.

I'm going to try and finish it anyway by the end of the year but sorry to have to pull out at this late stage!

Finished with my podfic and the editing. Had a beta listen to the piece and despite some sound issues (a little tinny in one part), I'm done. I had a lot of issues with this piece because of electronics and loss of motivation, but I was determined to get it done. And I did! I didn't have a cover partner for this one, so I'm ready for the posting timeframe.

Hi! Finally back from holiday and slightly less frazzled. I should be ready to post as early as you want. My podfics are edited and beta'd and I have my cover art. I just need to record and splice in the reader's notes and make all the mp3 + m4b versions, which I'm planning to get done by next weekend, in time for the start of posting. Fingers crossed, I'll be able to post on the first couple of days.

I had it in my head that I needed to have it done by Podfication, which is the weekend of the 20th. If I submit by the 19th, am I within the new rules or do I need an extension? Did I miss something about signing up for a posting date? I have a lot of editing left.

I have heard from my artist. I intend to post directly to AO3.

I have about 40ish minutes of unedited recording left but am not worried about getting it finished now that I've come to terms with having to leave a few sound issues at least for the time being.

Are we required to have cover art? Since I don't follow along here super closely, I missed the info about cover art. I can figure something out, but wanted to check to ensure I did what I needed to correctly.

Hey, Wild! Cover art is not required! In a traditional big bang, writers get matched up with artists, so we offered that option. Feel free to post your podfic as you like. :)

Just sent the last two hours for betaing and made a draft of the post on ao3! I also need to fix the volume, as each four files is set in a different volume, but that is easy to do :3
