This is check-in #3 for podficcers and check-in #1 for artists (HI!). How are you doing? Did you breeze through recording? Are you obsessing over sound effects? Baffled by editing? Wherever you are, let us know!

We are 6 weeks away from posting, so this is the time to take a hard look at your projects and say, "What do I need to do to finish on time?"

Please check-in by commenting here, DMing us on twitter, or emailing us. Your message can be as simple as "My podfic is done! \o/ Now I have to start working on the cover I claimed." Check-ins are MANDATORY, so be sure to update us on all of your projects (podfic and art alike). If you haven’t checked in by Monday we will come find you and if you haven’t responded to that message by next Saturday we will cry as we remove you from the participant list. (Please don’t make us cry.)

The podfic I'm doing for PBB is done. The podfic I was considering for PBB as a secondary is not and I think by default I'm rolling it over to ITPE because the smoke blanketing the Pacific Northwest the last ~month means I'm behind in recording schedule because of how the air quality was changing my voice (ew), so I'm letting that slide and not worried about it. And because I had ~an idea~ I made cover art for the completed podfic so basically I'll just horde it like a happy mother dragon until it's actually time for reveals <3

I've got all the files recorded and edited. I've done a second listen through and there are two or three little things I need to fix but otherwise... I Am Done. :D

on the cover art front, i've got a sketch of my idea and i know basically what it'll look like.

podfic wise i am not doing so hot! i have not done as much recording as i'd like to have done by this point, but i'm not giving up til i'm giving up, you know? i think to get done in six weeks i need to commit to working on it every week, so i'm gonna draw up a plan for that.

Plans are good, schedules are good. Having someone else to check in with (an Accountability Buddy) can also help. Let us mods know if you need help!

I had hoped to be done by this check in but sadly, I am not. I didn't get as much beta listening done as I had hoped (though I made a giant leap in progress yesterday so that is awesome). I have about a third left. It will definitely get done.

(in other news I also recorded and edited a 130k podfic that isn't for this challenge.......(it is also sitting and waiting for me to beta it))

I'm on track! I still need to edit the intro and outro of the podfic, but all the sfx are done. For the covers, the first one is ready, the second is in the works.

PBB #1 is with a beta, and I'm expecting a few more little edits soon. PBB #2 is done, but listening back I can hear a tiny! little! wheeze! and I haven't decided if I want to go back and try and edit it out.

OH NO! Not your tongue!! Halfway isn't bad. Do you feel confident about getting it done? Do you have a plan? Recognizing your limits and shifting your expectations is really healthy. Doing one well instead of two shoddily or very stressfully is good.

Art is still picking up steam :) sometimes finding the right inspiration is the hardest part.

I'm slowly chipping away at editing. There are a couple of sound issues I'm not sure I'll be able to fix, but I'm on track to be ready for posting.

Hi! I am afraid that, despite making really good progress last month and the month before, moving to begin grad school is basically draining me of all my will to live and also the ability to find my mic in the boxes. I think, considering my uncertainty about what my living situation is going to be like for the next two weeks, I must withdraw. I might be able to finish perfectly, but as of right now it's just one more thing to stress over and too much.

Hi!

I have claimed two podfics to make covers for. Both creators have gotten in touch with me very quickly, we exchanged visions and links to their files. Their work is DELIGHTFUL and I am much inspired. Right now I've gathered my references and made hazy layouts that I will share with them shortly to know if we're still in the same directly.

Check-ins will help me tremendously to stay within the deadline and are very appreciated. Thank you!!

Oops. I haven't looked at my podfic since the initial noise reduction. :|

Thankfully I'm used to editing effectively so that wont be a problem.

I think I'm going to make it. I have accepted that it will always sound terrible to me while I'm working on it, but I've had positive feedback on my attempts at an Irish accent, so full steam ahead! The difficulty I'm having is that I have to record the characters with those accents separately so I don't lose the accent and then I have to put the whole thing back together. But! I think I'm going to make it.

YOU GO, BRO! Sometimes it's hard to see how great our work is while we're in it, but when we step back and look with fresh eyes, you'll see the masterpiece. :)

I've made some headway with the cover I'm making, but haven't had time to do more edits for my own podfic. At least I do have feedback from a person regarding accent of a character, so that's good. I intend to get more editing done in the next two weeks so I can send everything off to be beta'd/checked for any remaining mistakes.

Had some issues with recording. New mic clicked on the audio when I played it back. Became discouraged for a while but finally have the last part recorded, just need to edit and put the final touches on it. It will be ready soon.

On the one hand, I am having to rerecord part 2 /o\ but on the other, this is because the weird humming problem I was having when I originally recorded part 2 has miraculously fixed itself \o/?

Now that pod-together is officially posted I will move on to editing. I don't anticipate any troubles with it.

I need to start working on the cover I claimed, though. I need to connect with the podficcer and start thinking through ideas. I just needed to make it through pod-together before I could focus on this.

Got a bit more done, I'm most of the way through chapter 9. But since I'm only 65% done according to my spreadsheet, I'm gonna try scheduling when I record/edit rather than just doing it when I feel like it! Maybe 30mins or an hour every weekend.

Scheduling is a good option. To finish my project, I scheduled 1 chapter a day (all the chapters were under 4K). Good luck!

Hi mods! I have been getting on with my long project, but there is a possibility that I may not get it complete. I have a backup already recorded, as well as a slightly longer alternative that I can also post. I am just in the editing process. On my larger original project I still have 20 chapters to record, but I'm up to date on editing. Either way, I will have something to post for podfic vig bang! My cover art is also sorted!

I wanted to be done my podfic by now, but I am very close! Everything is recorded and edited. My beta has listened and given me notes, so all I need to do is make those changes and then do a final listen through myself.

Where the cover art is concerned... it's more of a struggle. I am NOT a cover artist. At all. However, I've made one cover that my podficcer likes. I have an idea for the second cover, but making it work is H A R D.
