What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? I'm recording Baiting the Beauty by glamaphonic. I've loved this story for a while, but I keep getting distracted by Another Fic, which I plan to record for myself and never post.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? I've recorded 4 chapters so far. I should... probably come up with a schedule so that I can record and edit, without causing myself a headache.

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges? My main setback is motivation. I either need a routine or a cheerleader to get me across the finish line.

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? I'm recording Lost and Found by conzieu

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? Technically I have all of the fic recorded but it was with my old crappy microphone. I'm going through the files to see if there's anything I can use or if I need to just record everything again. There are four chapters of about 20k each.

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges? Lol see above. The biggest problem is the microphone has a lot of background noise and makes terrible sounds with every word with a "p." No help needed; I just need to listen to everything and see if there's anything salvageable.

Yikes! That's a hard choice. I don't know if I would have the heart to record 80K, but I also wouldn't want to put out a podfic I'm not proud of. I hope things work out in your favor.

I also have You Can Fake It For Awhile by nighimpossible recorded, but I don't think I can get it edited in time.

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? Aaannd I just realized anthologies were for the epic big bang and not the normal version. Back to the drawing board. Sorry!

Can you explain a little what you mean by anthology? While you cannot record a series of unrelated fics, you can record a series of related stories for both the regular and epic versions. (We talk about that here, in the FAQ post.) For example, recording 5 Yuri!!! On Ice fics all in the same universe is fine, but recording 5 stories in various fandoms is not.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? I'm actually doing pretty well. I've recorded 5 out of 12 chapters. Noting edited yet but that's still nearly a quarter of the way through.

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? I'm considering Private Show by sevenfists for the most part. I hope to finish In Spite of Everything, the Stars by Polomonkey for Epic PBB.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? In Spite is almost edited in the first round. It needs a beta and probably further edits as well as sound effects/music, etc. Private Show... I haven't done anything yet except prepare my script XD

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges? I'm not sure yet how I'll read Geno in Private Show. Russian accents are hard, so I'll have to see if I either not do an accent, or be content with a potentially really bad accent. I might read some lines and get a 2nd opinion from a Russian I'm tumblr-friends with. For In Spite, it's mostly just... finding motivation/time to finish first pass editing, and then finding a beta to listen through the whole, incomplete thing and let me know where I forogot to add sound effects that might already exist in other parts XD

Personally, I never try to do voices/accents I'm not comfortable with. I'd rather create a "Geno" voice that I can maintain for 25K before I risk fading in and out of the accent. However, you should do what's best for you and your voice. Good luck!

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? Ummm...IDK I haven't found one yet. If I don't find a good one soon I may just record my own fic. Is it gauche to record your own fic? I don't care.

I mean...other than I should probably read fic throughout the year and stockpile some to podfic for this, no. I have a fic for EPBB, but I don't think I can fit that in my time commitments this year so it will have to wait for next round.

Is it gauche to record your own fic? I don't care. HELL NO. Recording your own fic is "gauche" to people who see podfic as a status symbol. BARF. If you like your fic and you want to listen to it, TURN ON THE MIC AND GET CRACKIN.

I have started recording on both, but have done no editing! I have probably ~10k of each done, which isn't a lot, but it's getting there!

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges?

No setbacks so far. The first is a challenge because I'm doing character voices, which I don't normally do, and I'm nervous about how it'll pan out but also it means recording is more difficult, so I do it less frequently.

The second is intimidating - it's just really, really long. The first (77k) is already much longer than I've ever podficced, and it's much longer (117k)! But it has shorter chapters which are easier to bash out in a single recording session, so it's less difficult in that aspect.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? I’ve recorded it all (...the last time I attempted PBB) but I need to do one pickup, maybe two. I’m starting over with the editing so that’s all ahead of me.

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? I finished the last 20k of what I intended to be for PodficBigBang but have decided I'll probably just post it soon so I went and recorded Where the Wild Song Echoes by distractedKat instead which is 24k. I'm going to need to do a beta listen bc I recorded it in a new location but the recording/main edit is done.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? Yep, recorded and I edit as I go, so I just need to check and make sure the sound quality doesn't suck (and fix anything if it does).

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? my main priority is finishing the shape of me will always be you (almost 300k Hannibal fic) and my podtogether projects. Assorted other daiya fics are my backups

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? it was going really well and then the fire nation attacked. Not really. I just have quite annoying dysphoria en that is causing me to be uncomfortable w my voice, so I've slowed my pace a little. Still trucking along though!

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges? the aforementioned dysphoria, I have a friend who will help me with editing so I don't have to listen to my voice, and I do some vocal exercises, and all should be well!!

Hi, Kess. I checked AO3 and it looks like you've already started posting "The Shape of Me Will Always be You" as a WIP. Unfortunately, that means you cannot use that podfic for this challenge.

In our FAQ post we say that you can finish a podfic you've already started recording if you have not started publicly posting it. Also, while we love and support pod-together, they post in September and we don't post until October, which would also violate the rule about publicly posting elsewhere.

However, we are very glad that you have backup fics and look forward to helping you complete them.

I've got a few on the go! One is a group project with Rose and Opalsong, and a couple more I'm trying to get done alone.

I've got almost all of my part done for my group project, but not much done for my solo fics. Fingers crossed I find the time soon!

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? while i had one solidly picked out, i've started recording this other one that might just end up being my bigbang contribution, but i've got a few options. no storm can venture there by sciencemakedrugtho, or sword and shield series by spirithorse.

Woohoo! Recording your own podfic is a unique challenge, which I always equate to Lin Manuel Miranda writing and acting in his own musicals. Good luck on getting the tone where you want it. :)

My mic suddenly and with no warning started picking up a HORRIBLE humming noise when I started recording the second chapter. I've mostly managed to filter it out, but it sounds different, luckily this started at the 50% mark so the demarcation doesn't start in the middle of a scene, but still :( I'll probably need someone to tell me that this change doesn't ruin the podfic.

What fic (or fics) do you hope to podfic for the challenge? I am podficcing Homefront by Copperbadge for my big bang. And working on organizing a collaborative project for Points on a Circle but that is a much bigger endeavor and I don't think I'll be able to assemble it in time but-- I'll try.

Have you started recording and editing yet? How's it going? I have recorded for Homefront already and I've started with the editing process but I'm only like 15 minutes into editing an hour and a half of recording so I have a bit of a ways to go with it.

Have you encountered any setbacks/challenges? Can we help you work through these challenges? Not many at the moment. I am not loving the sound quality on the recording so far, it's a little bit too crisp and sharp for my liking but I should be able to get it into workable shape. Also if anybody has some suggestions on what effects available in Audacity make for a good AI JARVIS voice I'd love to hear them.
