Rules and Requirements

Podficcers

• Your mission is to record an audiobook for a fic with a minimum of 10,000 words.
• You may produce as many podfics for the challenge as you wish.
• You may collaborate with other podficcers for the challenge, but we would appreciate it if all co-collaborators signed up here so we have everyone's contact information in case we need it.
• You must be approximately 60% complete by the art request deadline to qualify for official art match-ups.
• If you are not interested in or do not qualify for the official art match-ups, you are free to create your own cover art, ask someone to create cover art for you outside the challenge, or post without cover art.

Cover Artists

• Your mission is to claim the podfic of your choice and create a minimum of one work of cover art.
• You may claim one podfic the first week after art claims open.
• You may claim as many additional podfics as you wish after the first week of art claims.

I'm totally planning to use this challenge as an excuse to podfic a Hocus Pocus crossover or fusion fic. Because October! If any of you know of some 10,000+ word Hocus Pocus crossover or fusion fics, throw them my way!

Commissioning art?

So, I'm going to use this as an excuse to record my own fic, and I've been meaning to commission (like, for actual money) a drawn/digital art/wtv cover for quite some time. I'm not sure how I could go about this, within the PBB. Like, I'd like to use the cover art on the text of my fic the moment it's available, and I'm not sure if that's allowed?

I guess, if anyone is interested, you could reply to this with a link to your portfolio?

I would ask that you seek to commission art outside the challenge. You are still welcome to post the podfic + art, but I'm not entirely comfortable involving the challenge with commissions. That is well outside our purview.

Not really! This challenge is pretty casual. You need to be signed up before art requests are due, if you want to partner with a cover artist. But if you're not planning to have your podfic added to the art claims post, you can sign up any time. The challenge check-ins are optional. I do expect people to sign up before the posting period, though!

I just wanted to make sure. Is it ok I do Black Helicopters for this challenge? I had posted a teaser of it previously.

I think I need some context. Is Black Helicopters the title of a fic? And you posted a teaser of it? How long is the fic? How long was the teaser? Where did you post the teaser?

Black Helicopters at Dawn is my goal for this. It's part 1 of a LONG SGA (John/Rodney AU) series. Um.. I think the teaser was like 5-10 minutes(? it was a mid cut, not from the begining), I posted to ao3 to find a beta to help me keep going? Thus far I've recorded/edited about 6 hrs, and I think it'll end up being about maybe 8-9 hrs? (I haven't recorded all of it. but it's I think almost 70k words). I'm psycing myself up for it, then out as it's kinda daunting, then I work my way up to It's okay, just bite sized until the end.... and yeah I kinda need some support for this)
