Pushing back the deadline again...

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we'll be pushing back the deadline and posting date an extra week. As it is the day before our so few people have submitted their work the day before the deadline, I'm hopeful that this will come as more of a relief than a disappointment to out participants. (Actually I haven't received a new submission since April 9th, if my notes are to be trusted.)

Submit your Big Bang and your Bonus Bangs by May 6th.

If you need longer than that and you haven't already talked to one of the mods about it, please do so ASAP. If you're dropping out, let us know so we can mark you off our list.

Apologies for delaying posting nearly a month from what was originally planned. Next round we'll have to extend the time period a bit to avoid this.

\o/ Surprise deadline extensions are my FAVORITE KIND!

To give a quick status report: everything has been recorded, I have about 2 hours and 45 minutes of finished draft, and about 25 minutes left to edit (plus tweaks that I want to go back and make to all three parts, but those take much less time than first-pass editing into a draft). I am the slowest ever, so that is still many hours of work left, but I will spread them out through the week and use next Thursday night and Friday as my emergency finish-up days instead of this Friday (which means this Friday I can work on my final projects for grad school, which are due Tuesday and Wednesday).

There is a chance that I won't have it until *late* next Friday, but I am definitely not dropping out and will have no problem finishing by the new deadline.

Well, I'm glad to hear this worked out for you! :D

I think the term will be ending for a lot of people around the time of our new posting date. Something to look forward to!

Hey, I can do a lot of the SFX work without the final draft (basically, I can FIND all the SFX I need and figure out what I want where without having any of the podfic at ALL), but I will probably need 24 hours or so to place the effects into the final podfic.

When do you think you can have the final draft to me by?

How about I give it to you in pieces, so I give you the final of Part 1 by, say, Mondayish, and then the final of Part 2 soon thereafter, and then the final of Part 3 might be more like Thursday?

I'm actually on vacation from the 1st-4th (I'll get back the evening of the 4th), and I'll most likely just end up doing it all at once, so go ahead and send me all three parts (at the same time OR staggered, entirely up to you) any time between the 4th and the 5th. That sound okay?

I've got Part 1 ready to send you. Seems like easy export options are going to be AIFF or AAC, not WAV for whatever reason. Which of those would you prefer, or would you like me to continue trying to figure out how to get a WAV?

Awesomeness! I just wanted to check in and say that I'm basically done with my three covers - the visuals are finished and I was just going to touch up the type and send them in tomorrow (aka today). But I have a ton of work related deadlines tomorrow so a little extra time will be fantastic. I'll be submitting all three early next week. Thanks!

This is great news! :D I'm not dropping out either. A completely music-free version of my podfic is done, but now I have lots of time to work with my artist to get music in. Yay!

Artist here, not dropping out either. One of my illustrations is fully done and I'm making my private post on my journal right now; you should get my form shortly. The other is mostly done and needs final colouring. It should also be done very soon. ^^

I literally just finished! As in, I'm exporting it into MP3 format as I type. **Did not see surprise extension, so crammed final edits into one day**
But yay! I'm actually finally finished this 2 years after I told the author I would!

New problem! I use mediafire to get my files hosted somewhere, and this one just will not copy over...I've tried several times with no success. This last attempt got to 99% uploaded, and then failed. Do you have a host you suggest?

How about sendspace? Files expire sooner, but I'll be downloading everything this week anyway. I've found the upload wizard quite useful.

Ooh, I had gotten confused and thought the previous deadline was May 2nd but I see that that was the posting date, so sorry about that. Anyway, my other two podfics just need one more listen and edit, and I've received the covers from both artists so should be able to submit them later this weekend. :)

I PMed dreaming_athena just over a week ago to let her know that I was going to need an extension, but I haven't heard from her, so I thought I'd better drop you a note here, too.

There is no way I want to drop out, as I'm so close to finishing - and yue_ix and revolutionaryjo have been so wonderful in their respective areas - but I seem to be at one of those awful stages where RL keeps tossing me new things that slow me to a crawl. In short, I think I may still have about two weeks work left to do on the blasted thing D: (I don't know how you're arranging the posting schedule, but if you can place me towards the end of it, I'd be very grateful!)

Also, I have a very vague memory of someone mentioning somewhere on this comm that there might be problems if sections of podfic were over an hour long? Am I misremembering, or is there a reason for that?

(I have two sections that each come in at about an hour and 10 minutes long at the moment, and that's without the music, so I could do with knowing if I need to break it into smaller sections at a scene-change or something!)

That length is perfectly fine. Breaking up parts is more a suggestion than a requirement--some people have trouble listening to long mp3 files, but I think problems are actually pretty rare.

We're planning to spread out posting over the course of a week or so. If you still aren't finished by the end of the week, don't worry. I don't mind making late additions.
